There is a saying in English, ‘All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.’ In present time, we are so stressed by the pressure of bookish education and hectic jobs that we have forgotten the significance of sports in education and in our lives. In our society, we have large outcome of professionals, which is good, but on the other way, weak bodies and poor health. Today, sports is not a curriculum of the education system but an extra curricular activity.
Academic education and sports education are like two sides of a coin which merge and create a value. In the same way, to become a complete valuable human being we need both sides of education- the academic education improves our mental abilities, reasoning, vocational specializations, social consciousness etc. and sports education makes us both mentally and physically strong, develops the habit of obedience, discipline, the determination to win, willpower, confidence etc. A good sportsman always obeys the rules of the game and the comments of their superiors. It also teaches them leadership qualities, maintaining teamwork and displaying team spirit. Sports education trains to face defeat with a smile and maintain the humility even in victory. It is the healthiest means of refreshments and recreation. Therefore, sports education along with the academics result in the over all development of a person.
So, in pursuit of education of life, we should never forget sports and physical activities. “A sound mind resides only in a sound body”.
